Emily, a talented graphic designer from the mid-west, meant well when she sat down to make a list of goals for her small firm last January. They seemed like just the right combination of stretch and achievability, and she had some good energy and excitement around them when she started work after her holiday break.
But as the weeks and months flew by, her goals, like so many New Years resolutions, fell by the wayside, as the day to day problems, details and minutia crept in to eat up her time, focus and bandwidth…taking her away from what was really important.
By June, her goals were all but a faded memory, and although Emily intended to get back to them, it was almost Thanksgiving when she turned around and realized she had made little progress and the year was almost over.
What will happen to your goals this year?
